Written so you can read it. It is still the real policy for Direction.

Who this is for
Direction is a daily compass for inner strength and transformation — playable lines, a journal, optional sleep, and (on Premium) longer sessions and voice cloning. It is meant for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
What lives on your device
In the current web build, most of what you make stays in this browser on this device. That includes:
- Your profile — a name, bearings you chose, true north, Free or Premium on this device, and a practice streak.
- Your journal.
- Lines you wrote or saved.
- Favorites and today’s queue.
- Voice samples if you record or upload them for cloning, and any clone the studio manages to keep.
We do not operate a cloud account that holds your journal in this build. If you clear the site data, switch browsers, or tap Start over on Path, that local walk is gone. We cannot restore it from a server we do not have.
The journal is private by default
Notes on Path are yours. They are not a feed. They are not used to train a public model from this app. They are not sold. We cannot open them from the support inbox because they are not sent to us. If you paste a journal line into an email, that is your choice — only send what you are willing to share.
When something does leave the device
A few features only work if we send a request:
- Crafting a line sends the words you typed (and, if you offered them, a name and bearings) to our writing service so we can return one sentence.
- Speaking a line sends the text and a voice id so you can hear it.
- Cloning sends the audio sample you recorded or uploaded so we can try to make a speaking voice.
Those requests go through Direction’s servers to xAI so the feature can run. We do not sell that material. We do not use your journal as the prompt. If a feature is not live — cloning sometimes is not — we tell you, and we would rather leave a slot silent than fake a person.
Voice, consent, and parents
Calm is a generic voice. It is never a parent. Your own voice is treated as you. A parent’s voice is only for two cases we will not soften: with consent, or in loving memory.
Record or upload only a voice you have the right to use. Do not clone someone who did not agree, and do not dress a generic voice as a mother, a father, or anyone you miss. If you want a sample removed from this device, delete it in the studio or Start over on Path. If you believe a clone was made without consent, write direction.app.official@gmail.com and we will treat it as urgent.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal data. We do not run an ad network inside Direction. We do not buy lists to market to you. We do not turn the journal into advertising profiles.
Hosting may keep ordinary request logs — that a page was loaded, from roughly where, at what time — the way any site does. That is not a dossier of your inner life.
Premium and payments
Premium is $8 a month, or $70 if you pay for the year. On this web build a plan can be marked on the device; when App Store or Play billing is live, those stores handle the payment information. We do not want your card number in an email.
Your choices
Change your name and bearings on Path. Change plan there too. Delete a journal note, a custom line, or a voice in the places you made them. Start over clears the local practice. For a privacy request we can actually act on — consent, a clone, something you sent us by email — write direction.app.official@gmail.com.
How to reach us
Privacy and support share one inbox: direction.app.official@gmail.com. The public Support page is /support. Say “privacy” in the subject if it is a data request so we do not miss it. On X: @direction_app. Public notes about the practice. A privacy request still belongs in email, not a reply on the feed.
When this changes
If the practice grows a real account, a sync, or a new processor, we will update this page and the date at the top. The point stays the same: the inner life you bring here is not inventory.
